Yvonne Saunders, MD has been practicing medicine since July 2001. She founded Family Friendly Medical Care in November, 2004. Her vision of patient care is one in which the physician-patient relationship is paramount. Her hero is Dr. Martin L. King Jr and so for the first 7 and 1/2 years of her solo medical practice, the office was located on Martin L King Blvd in North Las Vegas. In April 2012, Dr. Saunders moved her medical practice to the Mountain View Hospital Professional building.
FFMC adheres to the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) concept. Dr. Saunders has always been on call 24/7 for emergencies. Dr. Saunders has always used an Open Access scheduling system. Dr. Saunders has invested in state-of-the-art technology to better meet patient needs and help reduce medical errors.
Dr. Saunders participates in a national program called Practice Partner Research Network sponsored by Medical University of South Carolina. An ongoing research study called ATRIP (Accelerating Translation of Research into Practice) provides Dr. Saunders feedback on how she can improve her medical practice and ultimately provide better care to her patients. Dr. Saunders' medical performance ranks in the top 25% of all practices in the above national research project.
FFMC is committed to the educational excellence of future healthcare professionals. Dr. Saunders is a Faculty Member of Touro University of Nevada and teaches medical students in her office. Patient participation is voluntary.
We also teach externs in the areas of reception, medical assistant and billing. From time to time you may see students training. We support the medical community helping train future medical office workers. We have hired several externs who demonstrate superior skills compared to their counterparts.
A comprehensive vaccination program is available for established patients. This vaccination program services both pediatrics and adults. We take both public and private insurance plans.
FFMC staff provide excellent care in the out-patient and the in-patient setting. Continuity of care is important at FFMC. Dr. Saunders has admitting privileges at Mountain View Hospital. She uses hospitalists for in-patient care and she has an excellent communication system with them. Our goal is to provide excellent, compassionate and reliable patient care. We serve the entire family and community.
